A record made
within four walls.
Stave is a personal mixtape by French musician
petit fantôme. Its eleven songs were written, recorded and mixed entirely at
home between 31 December 2012 and 14 February 2013,
then mastered by Benjamin Weber at Globe Audio studio.
The result is a warm, lo-fi record sung in French and Basque —
thin guitars, a lonely bugle, a few homemade beats and a beautiful layer of tape hiss. It opens
with Peio, a tender nod to Basque singer Pello Mikel Laboa,
and closes on the whispered Couvre moi.
Released in 2013 on Animal Factory Records with the support of
the Iceberg collective, the album has always been offered as a free download.
This site keeps that spirit alive: listen to every track, browse the original handwritten
lyrics and take the record with you — no sign-up, no paywall.
